EDITOR'S PICKS: 5 Things To Do Today, June 14, in Framingham

Flag day at Elks, Dunning Elementary celebrates golden anniversary, open house at Clearbrook pool, General Gordon Tour, and Giant Carnival.

Below are my picks for things to do today, June 14 in Framingham:

  1. FLAG DAY: Today, June 14 is Flag Day. The Framingham Elks will hold a celebration staring at 11:30 a.m. The public is invited. A ceremony begins at noon followed by a cookout. Kids eat free.
  2. GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY: Dunning Elementary School is holding a 50th Celebration for its school today from 1 to 4 p.m. The former Frost Elementary school was renamed the Charlotte A Dunning Elementary School in 1965. The public is invited to attend.
  3. GO FOR A SWIM: The MetroWest YMCA’s Clearbrook Family Swim Club continues its open house today. The outdoor pool on Parker Road will be open for tours and free swimming today from noon to 5 p.m. Photo: Petroni Media Company
  4. HISTORICAL TOUR: Learn about the life of Framingham’s General Gordon with a walking tour sponsored by the Framingham History Center. The noon and 4 p.m. tours are sold out but there are spaces available in the 1 and 3 p.m. tour. Click here for more details. Online ticket ordering not available today. $5 for History Center members and $10 for non-members.
  5. GIANT CARNIVAL: Today is the final day of the Framingham High Class of 2016 carnival. The 4-day event raises money to reduce the cost of the senior prom. The Carnival will be open today from 1 to 9 p.m. and there is a special today - $22 gets you an unlimited ride pass.

Bonus pick: Strawberries are now in season. The winter has been good to the crop. You can pick your own at Hanson’s Farm in Framingham seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
