Framingham First Submits 3,000 Signatures to Town Clerk

Group needs to collect a minimum of 15 percent of the town's registered voters to create a charter commission to study town's government.

Framingham First has collected 3,000 signatures in their Charter Commission ballot petition campaign.

Framingham Patch published that news last week.

Members of the committee presented the signatures at the Town Clerk’s Office Wednesday morning.

The 3,000 signatures puts the organization at its halfway point before the December deadline in order for a Charter Commission question to be on the April 2016 ballot.

The signatures collected are considered β€œraw” until certified by the Town Clerk’s Office.

According to state law, those interested in creating a Charter Commission are required to collect a minimum of 15 percent of the registered voters in town through a petition.

Framingham First is a group of residents that has joined together to help make Framingham a better place to live, learn, work and play. Its members want to see our current form of government evolve into a more modern, effective and accountable structure.
