Framingham's Ramos Wins Professional Bout with TKO in First Round

Timmy Ramos started with Framingham's PAL boxing program, and now trains at Upperkuts Boxing Club in Ashland.

In the main event of a professional boxing card at Rockingham Park on Saturday night, Framingham’s Timmy Ramos defeated Brandon Garvin (Philadelphia) by technical knock out (TKO) 49 seconds into the first round.

The Framingham boxer had last fought in April, defeating Gilvan Santos by a knockout.

Ramos has been training 6 days a week, 40 hours a week, sometimes getting up as early as 4 a.m.to train.

He and his trainer AJ Thomas are training out of Upperkuts Boxing Club, a new boxing gym on Main Street in Ashland.

β€œSince I have been training Timmy I have not seen nothing but improvements,” said Thomas. β€œTimmy and I have been training together for years.”

They both started out with the Framingham Police Athletic League (PAL) boxing club.

β€œNow coaching him I have never seen him so focused,” said Thomas.

β€œWe haven’t fought since April,” said Thomas. β€œWe have had a couple fights not happen last minute. But he never lost his focus.”

β€œHaving him win By TKO in the first round is huge. We couldn’t be more proud of him,” said Thomas. β€œHe has a very bright future ahead of him. He is going to make a lot of noise as a professional boxer.”
