Author Pat Lavin and illustrator Laura Stagliola will discuss the new publication on Sunday, Oct. 18 at Village Hall.

Author Pat Lavin brings The Dennison Mfg. Company back to life with her 122-page book Welcome to the Dennison Manufacturing Company.

The Framingham History Center volunteer (Lavin) was one of the the β€œfirst volunteers to set eyes on the motherlode of archives at the warehouse downtown and from day one she’s been hooked,” said History Center Executive Director Annie Murphy.

β€œWe wish we had this stunning new publication for the opening of our Dennison exhibition last December. It’s been worth the wait,” said Murphy.

Stagliola β€œcontributed a stunning selection of Dennison illustrations to accompany Lavin’s narrative,” said Murphy.

The newly-published book features more than 250 illustrations and a very approachable evolution of the company’s five founding products - boxes, tags, labels, crepe paper and sealing wax.

Lavin, summarizes a remarkable history, from the founding of the company in 1844 to the Town of Framingham’s 1952 tribute to Henry S. Dennison, with a sense of wonder and excitement over her discoveries while working on the company archives.

Lavin said she was β€œhonored” to have been able to work on this project.
