When we hired Dr. Scott as our superintendent a little over three years ago, we were seeking a superintendent to take over a school system that was challenged by inconsistent achievement and insufficient funding. We hired someone we perceived as an educational visionary who would bring fresh ideas and the most up-to-date educational methodology to our system. What we got from Dr. Scott was all of that and so much more.

Under Dr. Scott, our high school went from Level III to Level I. When Dr. Scott arrived, our dropout rate among male African-American students was 15%. Today, we have a 0% dropout rate among that same group. Under his superintendence each and every school in our town has seen significant growth in student achievement. Dr. Scott and his team have developed a long-term strategic plan that will carry us into the year 2020. On his watch, our school department has enhanced its 25-year capital improvement plan as well as developed a five-year technology plan, a communication plan and a three-year professional development plan. His reorganization plan for the management of our schools maximizes the efficiency and efficacy of our school administration.

Dr. Scott has distinguished himself for his rigor, high standards, and pursuit of equity for all students. The redirection and the foundation that Dr. Scott has given us will be a fine legacy and a solid basis for our school system to move forward, pursuing higher achievement and allowing our students to be better prepared for college and their careers.
