On Tuesday, just after 1:30 p.m., Framingham Assistant Superintendent of Schools Frank Tianoβs office issued a press release from both Framingham School Committee Chair Beverly Hugo and Scott on him being selected as a finalist.
βYou should know that Framingham Public Schools is dear to me, both personally and professionally, and while I am confident that FPS can continue to thrive, I have mixed emotions about the idea of leaving our school district,β said Scott. βMy tenure as superintendent at Framingham has been deeply rewarding.β

βWe are very proud that Dr. Scott has been designated as a finalist for the position of superintendent for one of the most prestigious school districts, Cambridge, MA. We wish him all the best of luck as he proceeds in this selection process,β said Hugo. βWhen we hired Dr. Scott as our superintendent a little over three years ago, we were seeking a superintendent to take over a school system that was challenged by inconsistent achievement and insufficient funding. We hired someone we perceived as an educational visionary who would bring fresh ideas and the most up-to-date educational methodology to our system. What we got from Dr. Scott was all of that and so much more.β

A Town Hall Community Forum will be held on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Fitzgerald Auditorium at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School where members of the public may meet the finalists, to be followed by public interviews of the finalists by the full School Committee on Oct. 16 during a special meeting.
The Framingham School Committee hired Tiano as assistant superintendent earlier this summer.
Sonia Diaz serves as the districtβs chief academic officer and Ed Gotart is the districtβs chief operating officer.
Tiano and Diaz were both colleagues of Scottβs before joining the public school district.
The Framingham School Committee is next scheduled to meet on Monday, Oct. 19.
