Sharon Marie Gath Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser

Samba and Samba West are hosting the fundraiser for the Framingham State University scholarship on Wednesday night, Oct. 14.

In August 2013, Sharon Marie Gath, 35, died in a tragic accident, as a direct result from having Epilepsy.

Last month, her family decided to raise $25,000 for a scholarship at Framingham State University in Sharon’s name. Recipients of this scholarship will be given (but not limited) to students who are in the fashion design and retailing program with a concentration in merchandising or the art and music program.

On Wednesday night, Oct. 14 Samba and Samba West restaurants in Framingham will donate 20 percent of patrons bills, not including alcohol to the Sharon Gath Scholarship at Framingham State University.

Since her tragic death, family and friends have worked hard to keep Sharon’s memory alive and have:

  • Donated money to name 2 service dogs from the NEADS Organization, a non-profit agency that trains and places service dogs with people dealing with a wide variety of disabilities.
  • Created a permanent, tax deductible fund called β€œCelebrating Sharon Gath” at the Epilepsy Foundation of New England. They have donated more than $6,000 enabling six children/young adults to Camp Wee-Kan-Tu, an overnight camp for kids with epilepsy and supported someone with epilepsy in a job internship.
  • Raised monies to purchase and place a memorial bench at Sharon’s favorite eating establishment near her grandparent’s retirement home in Maine/NH.
  • Donated to the Wounded Warrior Project (in memory of Michael Winchester)
  • Placed a brick in Sharon’s honor/memory at Buddy Dog Humane Society (shelter and adoption center for dogs and cats) located in Sudbury.
