SLIDESHOW: Nobscot Park Cleanup Kicks Off Expansion Project
The eventual goal is to create a terrain park and construct a pavilion area with an outdoor, all-natural amphitheater
Over Columbus Day weekend, a few volunteers cleared trash and junk from a 4.3 acre area behind Nobscot Park, off Edgell Road, to kick-off an expansion plan project in the Framingham neighborhood.
The eventual goal is to create a terrain park and outdoor entertainment venue in the town-owned parcel.
The terrain park would include an βexcer-trail system and a marked hiking trail system, that could be used for snowshoeing in the winter,β said organizer Rick McKenna.

In a area closer to Edgell Road would be the construction of a pavilion area with an outdoor, all-natural amphitheater for small-venue entertainment and activities, including theatre and musical productions.
Among the trash pulled out of the wooded area on Saturday was a grill, picnic table, clothesline, car batteries, broken smart phone, clothing and almost a dozen trash bags full of bottles and cans, said McKenna.

Volunteers included Framingham Girl Scouts, including Troop 72082.
Volunteers were treated to doughnuts and hot cocoa before they began the clean-up from Honey Dew Donuts, and chili from CJβs Northside Grill after their efforts. Nobscot Wine and Spirits provided water and juice and ice to the volunteers.
Kay Fam Photo provided printed maps of the area for volunteers.
The site once was the location of Framingham Schoolhouse #8, which later became βNobscot Hall.β In 1874 the hall became the district court room. In 1967, the hall became known as βGrange Hall,β and later a Scout House, until the building was destroyed by fire in 1994.
Future clean-ups and volunteer efforts are planned.
If you would like to get involved in the project, or stay up-to-date with the expansion plans, there is a Nobscot Park Facebook page. There are almost 200 fans on the page since it launched earlier this month.
