Why Is The Flag Half-Staff On Friday?

MASSACHUSETTS—Governor Charles D. Baker has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, March 17, 2018, the day of interment, in honor of Specialist Michael J. Grella, Joint Force Base Langley - Ft. Eustis, VA; of Gloucester, Massachusetts who died on Friday, March 9, 2018.

These gubernatorial orders apply to:
1. The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. town and city halls.
2. Other state-owned or state-controlled buildings.
3. All state military installations.
