$1,000 Raised for Doug Lack
Lack received $1,000 in support for a costly upcoming kidney transplant.

When HHS art teacher Doug Lack needed help, the Holliston community came to his aid.
Holliston business owners, selectmen and residents handed checks to Doug Lack Thursday; turning over the proceeds from an event to raise support for Lack's upcoming kidney transplant surgery.
Business owners rallied to raise funds after hearing Lack will lose some of his pay during his recovery after he runs out of sick days.

matched a fundraiser at dollar-for-dollar. The Holliston Business association and Lions Club also donated to the fundraising efforts, which totaled $1,000.
“The funds will help cover everything insurance doesn’t cover, from transportation to over-the-counter medicine to lost pay,” Lack said.

Workers at C&R Hot Dogs, a popular Holliston lunch spot, to customers during a fundraiser on Tuesday, who were looking to raise support for the beloved HHS art teacher.
“The support is hard to put into words, it's really great,” Lack said.
Doug hopes the upcoming surgery can put an end to a 20-year battle with his kidneys, and let him return to what he loves most – teaching.
“There is never a day when I feel good when I wake up, I always feel sick, and I’m very good at hiding it,” Lack said. “But the kids give me a little pep in my step.”
Three potential donors have stepped forward, who must undergo an extensive screening process. Lack expects surgery to begin soon after doctors choose the best possible match.
