Baypath Humane Sends Help to Hurricane Struck Animals

Several local shelters are teaming up to help shelters that were in Hurricane Sandy's path.

People have come together in all different ways to help the people in New York and New Jersey who were displaced because of Hurricane Sandy, but what about the animals?

Baypath Humane Society in Hopkinton is working with other area shelters to send pet supplies down to the affected areas.

According to Liz Jefferis at Baypath, Sterling Animal Shelter decided to organize the donations and invited other area shelters to help out.

"I think it’s really cool what they’re doing," Jefferis said. "We saw Animal Rescue League doing something last week and we wanted to know what we could do like this. We have a small shelter though so we couldn't send anyone down there."

Several staff members from Sterling Animal Shelter will be leaving for Staten Island today.

"While we didn't have any staff to spare, because people are always giving us so many donations we raided our place and sent it out there," Jefferis said.
