HOLLISTON, MA - James Arena-DeRosa of Holliston, a candidate for the 8th

Middlesex State House District, has been endorsed by the North Atlantic States Regional
Council of Carpenters Local #336, according to a campaign spokesperson.

“Our members have endorsed James Arena-DeRosa because they believe he is the
best candidate to protect workers on the job and help unions grow," said Rick
Anketell, business representative with Carpenters Local 336. “We need to protect
workers in all industries from wage theft, and James has committed to working to
make certain our Wage Theft bill gets passed at the State House as soon as
possible."

The Carpenters Local 336’s endorsement is one of the first local unions to endorse
Arena-DeRosa’s candidacy for the 8th Middlesex. The union represents carpenters throughout MetroWest.

“The support of the Carpenters Local 336 is deeply humbling and invigorating,” said
DeRosa in a statement. “The labor movement built this country. I was trained in organizing by the
Farmworkers, and I used those skills as a former SEIU member and contract
negotiator.

"I wouldn’t be the leader I am today without my union involvement," he continued. "Now,
I am running to become a leader in another critical collaboration, our state government, where I will advocate for working families and ensure that representatives of working people have a seat at the table as we move our Commonwealth forward."

Some of the priorities Arena-DeRosa stressed are bringing social and economic justice to all, addressing infrastructure needs, supporting our small businesses, caring for elders, retaining young talent, and combatting climate change by building a green economy.

Arena-DeRosa noted that he has decades of experience from his roles with Oxfam America, the Peace Corps, and the United States Department of Agriculture during the Obama administration.

The 8th Middlesex State House District includes Holliston, Hopkinton, Sherborn, and precincts two and three of Millis. The seat has no incumbent after Representative Carolyn Dykema’s resignation in February. Representative David Linsky’s 5th Middlesex District no longer includes Millis and Sherborn.
