Holliston Hockey Season Preview

The Panthers hope for a return to the state tournament and continued growth from an up-and-coming program.

The Panthers varsity hockey team will take on Hopkinton tomorrow and begin a season that head coach Rick LeBlanc hopes will bring continued growth from a team on the rise.

Leading a fast, offense-driven team, LeBlanc hopes to outshoot his biggest challengers from Ashland, Hopkinton and Medway this season.

"That's our biggest strength, we are young and energetic and we have speed," LeBlanc said.

But young energy could also be the team's greatest challenge.

Graduating 15 seniors last year, the Panthers face a lack of experience, with only a handful of veteran varsity players returning, LeBlanc said.

To prepare for the upcoming season, LeBlanc has been networking with some of the best coaches around, including ones from the NHL and college teams.

"We bounce ideas off one another all the time," LeBlanc said.

Center Max Turcotte, right wing Tyler Perry, and defenseman Tim Araujo are among the players LeBlanc named as those who will help lead the team to the playoffs.
