Holliston Schools Have Plans Ready for “The Unthinkable”

After a shooting like the one in Newtown CT, Holliston schools in town and across the state are looking at their reaction plans.

When news came in late this morning that a shooting had occurred in Newtown Connecticut, Holliston Superintendent Brad Jackson went around to the town’s elementary schools to speak with parents and teachers.

“I’ve been focusing on helping the schools, students and parents deal with their reactions to something like this,” Jackson said. “It’s really unthinkable, I can’t get my head around it as a person, how something like this could happen.”

Jackson said schools in Holliston and all across the state have plans in place for how to deal with a situation like this.

“All of the schools have emergency plans that are well coordinated between local safety state safety and local schools about how to react should the unthinkable happen,” Jackson said.

Because of the timing of the event, Jackson said many students may not have even heard about the shooting, especially those in younger grades.
