HOPKINTON, MA—The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad was called in to Hopkinton on election night to investigate reports of a possible suspicious "ticking" package. Around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, a woman came into the Hopkinton police station to report that she was hearing a ticking sound coming from an outgoing mail drop box at the post office on Cedar Street. Officers responded and as a precaution evacuated nearby businesses, and Cedar Street was closed to traffic. At the time, the post office wasn't open. After a check by the bomb squad, it was determined there were no explosive devices in said box, and the ticking sound was "attributed to the building itself."
