Man Barricades Himself In House In Hopkinton Stand-Off: Police
Hopkinton police headed to a house to investigate a car that was allegedly stolen. It ended with a standoff with a Worcester man.

HOPKINTON, MA—A Worcester man is facing several charges, including assault on an officer, after Hopkinton police responded to reports of a stolen car early Wednesday morning.
Around 8 a.m. on Nov. 7, police were called to 19 Hayden Rowe St. in Hopkinton as part of an investigation regarding a stolen car. When they got there, they said a man who was visiting, talked to police and became combative and tried to run away while they were trying to talk to him. The man ran into the house and barricaded himself inside, said police. Two other people at the house were able to get out.
With help from Southborough and Ashland police and the Massachusetts SWAT team, officers surrounded the house, and closed Hayden Rowe down to traffic. The neighboring homes, too, were evacuated and schools were placed in a shelter-in-place status.

Officers negotiated with the man and at 9:07 a.m., he surrendered.
Ryan Conroy, 31, of Worcester was taken into custody. He was charged with two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest.

One officer was injured during the altercation and he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police said a woman at the home was also arrested on unrelated warrants.
Theresa Mascroft, 35, of Hopkinton was arrested on a default warrant out of Westfield District Court for failure to appear on motor vehicle charges. She was also arrested on a default warrant out of Waltham District Court for drug possession charges. She was transported to Framingham District Court to face arraignment on these warrants.
The investigation into the stolen car is ongoing.
