Community Corner
Menorah Erected at Town Hall for Ninth Year
Local Jewish community begins Hanukkah preparations.

Hanukkah is just around the corner and Rabbi Mendy Kivman of the Chabad Jewish Center was outside Holliston Town Hall last night setting up the menorah, as he has done every year for nearly a decade.
Kivman said he first began putting the Hanukkah symbol up in 2003 after a discussion with town leaders and legal council about freedom of speech and religion.
"While the menorah is a symbol of a Jewish Holiday, it also has the universal message of Religious freedom and tolerance" Kivman said. "This is a place for community members, Jewish or not, to gather, celebrate and feel the warmth and light of the menorah, and we are proud to have done that every year since 2003."

There will be a celebration outside of Town Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday to light the first candle on the menorah and start the festival of lights.
Kivman invites the entire community out to celebrate, Jewish or not, and enjoy hot drinks, Hanukkah nosh and Hanukkah gelt.
