Police Officer Struck By Vehicle

According to police reports, and officer with the Hopkinton Police Department was struck by the mirror of a passing vehicle.

The incident occurred at a work site on Clinton Street where the officer was conducting detail work.

The officer, who had been hit in the head, was able to give a description of the vehicle to the dispatcher. Several officers responded and found the vehicle in a company lot.

At the station the operator admitted to striking the officer and leaving the scene.

Police are seeking a summons to charge him with leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, failure to use care when passing and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

The officer was treated and released from the hospital.
