Road Construction Changes, Guys and Dolls Jr. at Hopkinton High School

1. The Hopkinton Highway Department announces a schedule change in road construction, due to contractor scheduling conflicts. Starting today, July 26, the crews will be on Colonnade Drive, from Fruit Street to Roosevelt Road. And, also today, the crews will be on North Street, from Fruit Street to west of Fruit Street. One lane of traffic will be open on Huckleberry Road and  North Street, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

2. Enter Stage Left Theater in Hopkinton presents Guys and Dolls Jr. at Hopkinton High School for two shows on Friday. The matinee is at 2 p.m.; the evening show starts at 7. Tickets are $12 for adults; $10 for seniors and students at www.HopArtsCenter.org.

3. Lonza in Hopkinton will lay off as many as two-thirds of its workers by the end of the year, the company announced Thursday. The functions at the plant are being consolidated at its largest plant, in Switzerland.

4. A flash flood advisory is in effect for Middlesex County until noon Friday, due to moderate to heavy rain over the past 24 hours.
