Swimmer Who Drowned In Lake Maspenock Identified

The 21-year-old went missing while swimming Friday night with a friend near Sandy Beach in Hopkinton.

HOPKINTON, MA — Local officials have identified the man who drowned Friday night in Lake Maspenock in Hopkinton.

Wilinson Orbequito, 21, a Hopkinton resident, was swimming with a friend near 8 p.m. Friday at Sandy Beach and never returned to the shore. Fire officials said Orbequito and his friend were swimming outside a designated area.

Orbequito's disappearance sparked a search with help from Westborough and Natick dive and boat teams. The search was suspended near midnight Friday amid tumultuous thunderstorms.

Orbequito was found about 90 feet from the shore in 12 feet of water Saturday morning after fire officials resumed the search.
