Why Are The Flags At Half-Staff In Massachusetts?
Flags are at half staff on government buildings on Thursday, June 28.

HOLLISTON, MA—Governor Charles D. Baker has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Thursday, June 28, the day of interment, in honor of Major General (Retired) George W. Keefe, 39th Adjutant General of the Massachusetts National Guard, who passed away on June 21, 2018. Keefe was a resident of Holliston.
This gubernatorial order applies to:
- The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. town and city halls
- Other state-owned or state-controlled buildings
- All state military installations
