$125K Earmarked For Malden In $1B Supplemental COVID-19 Budget
The House recently passed a $1 billion supplemental budget to address economic shortfalls caused by the pandemic.
MALDEN, MA — The Massachusetts House of Representatives in the last week of June passed a $1 billion supplemental budget to address pressing economic shortfalls during the coronavirus pandemic.
"These unsettled times demand swift relief measures on the part of state government, and I am pleased my colleagues and I were able to expeditiously advance this vital funding appropriation forward," State Rep. Paul Donato, who represents Medford and Malden, said in a statement. "These resources will serve to scaffold and support beleaguered individuals, families, and small businesses as they continue to weather this ongoing public health crisis."
Donato serves as the Second Assistant Majority Leader in the house and has worked to assist individuals, families and businesses hit hardest by the pandemic.

"Never before has institutional knowledge and a steady hand at the helm been more important," Rep. Sean Garballey said in a statement. "Leader Donato, is up there on the rostrum time and time again, making sure that we pass legislation that's going to help get the Commonwealth and her people through this pandemic together."
The budget allocates $75,000 for additional school nursing staff in Malden, $25,000 for language translation services and $25,000 for materials for Malden public schools affected by the pandemic. It is awaiting final approval by the Senate and governor.

"Your government will continue to meet the challenge of COVID-19 head on; and I will always work collaboratively, with all stakeholders, to serve the people of Medford and Malden to the very best of my ability," Donato said. "Together, we will get through this, I have no doubt of that."
