Malden Completely Shuts Down Parks
The city said it was "difficult to ensure" people were using the parks for passive activity.
MALDEN, MA — Malden has closed its parks and community gardens to all activity. The spaces were previously open for passive use, but it "has been difficult to ensure that all our park goers are using the necessary precautions and protocols to protect their health and safety and that of those around them," city officials said in a statement.
Residents have been using the bike path for walking, jogging and other activities that do not lead to public congregation, according to the city.
Health officials ask people to practice social distancing when out in public, including avoiding groups and maintaining a six-foot distance between each other.
