Malden Coronavirus: 2nd Confirmed, 57 Quarantined
The city's second case is a hospital employee who has been under quarantine since possibly being exposed.
MALDEN, MA — A second Malden resident has tested positive for COVID-19, the illness associated with the coronavirus. The resident is a hospital employee who has been under quarantine since possibly being exposed, health officials said.
Malden's first case was linked to a Biogen conference in Boston last month that was responsible for dozens of early cases of the virus in Massachusetts. There are now 328 confirmed cases of the coronavirus across the state, according to figures released Thursday.
Officials said 57 additional Malden residents are under quarantine for either being suspected of or presumed to have the coronavirus. This includes those who have come in contact with someone who has tested positive, returned from another country or have reported symptoms that are consistent with the virus.
