Some Guidance on Yard Waste Disposal in Malden
Now that you can finally go outside again, maybe it's time to clean your yard?

Well, for the most part, the snow is melted. It almost seemed like winter would go on indefinitely for a while there. But it didn’t, and fortunately, the National Weather Service forecasts a breezy, warm weekend in Malden. Ergo, Saturday and Sunday could provide a worthwhile opportunity to clean your yard, or at least start the process.
But once you’ve gathered up piles of grass, leaves, and branches, what’s to be done with them?

- Yard waste pickup in Malden doesn’t start until Monday, May 4, and from there runs every other week until December. So if you do decide to clean your yard this weekend, it’ll be a little while before you can dispose of the debris with your regular trash pickup.
- Malden only picks up leaves, grass, and twigs. Branches, logs and dirt will have to be disposed of elsewhere.
- In order for trash collectors to accept yard waste, it must be contained in a barrel marked “yard waste” or a brown paper bag. A plastic bag won’t do.
- If you don’t want to wait until next month to get rid of your yard waste, you can drop it off at the DPW throughout most of the week.
