Marlborough Chamber Giving Away Scholarships: You Should Apply

The Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce is accepting 2018 scholarship applications.

MARLBOROUGH, MA—Hey, college is expensive. If money is being given away, take some time and apply for it. The Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting 2018 scholarship applications.

As an association of business, professional and nonprofit leaders, the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce promotes the commercial, industrial and economic interests of the community, according to the announcement.

"Recognizing the symbiotic relationships among all segments of the community, and seeking to foster life-skill learning, the Chamber offers scholarships to area students who intend to continue their post-secondary education in business or business-related fields," said the release.

A business focus can be beneficial to the applicant, but there are lots of facets that are considered in the decision process.

From the pool of applicants submitting all requested information, the scholarship recipients will be chosen on the basis of their biographical essay, achievements, scholarship and financial needs. This year, the 2018 Scholarship Award is $1,000 per recipient.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Biographical Essay in letter form addressed to the Scholarship Committee. Be sure to include information that you feel qualifies you as a good candidate for this scholarship and to mention any unusual personal circumstances. We are interested in your professional goals, and plans for the future, any awards you have received, extracurricular activities, community involvement, volunteering and work experience.
  • Two letters of reference, one from a school person and one from a business or community leader who can speak to your work or volunteer experiences.
  • A copy of your secondary school transcript including an activity summary whenever possible.
  • Completed Application – Visit the Chamber website to download the scholarship application.

The deadline is Friday, March 30.
