5 Things: Bank Robbed, Clean Ups a Success, Brush Fires Near High School

Here's Five Things.

Good morning, here are five things to know today:

The Members Plus Credit Union in Medford Square was robbed Monday morning by a man who threatened the life a teller in a note, police said. About 9:50 a.m., a white male wearing a white Harvard University hooded sweatshirt entered the bank, handed the teller a note that read "give me all the cash in your drawer or you die in 5 minutes,” according to a Medford police press release. The man received an unspecified amount of cash and fled on foot, police said. He remained at large as of Monday evening.

A few small brush fires off wooded trails near Medford High School were quickly put out Monday afternoon, a fire official said. A passerby on the trail reported the fires about shortly after 3:30 p.m. Monday, and they were distinguished by about 4:15 p.m. The fires were small, but located on a trail about a quarter-mile to half-mile along a trail from near the vocational school entrance, which made it difficult to access with water, fire Lt. Stephen Blute said. Crews had to use 10-gallon tanks strapped to their backs to bring water to the area.
