5 Things: City Council OK's Bonds for School Technology, HS Pool

Good morning. Here are five things to know today:
Council OKs School Items: During its meeting last night, the City Council approved a request from the mayor for a $1.93 million bond to reconstruct the Medford High School pool, which has been closed since 2008. It also approved of a $3.3 million bond request that would fund district-wide school technology upgrades. Both were approved by a 6-0-1 vote, with councilor Fred Dello Russo absent. Scattered Showers: There's a 50 percent chance of rain today, according to the National Weather Service. Highs today are expected around 50 degrees.

"I don't think there's much we'll be able to get accomplished this year," said Rep. Michael Capuano, speaking about the current state of Congress during a breakfast talk to the Tuesday morning. With both parties in election mode, "I don't expect much significant to happen," he said. Capuano, a former mayor of Somerville, spoke at in East Somerville.
