Good morning, here's five things to know today:

The host of "Reading Rainbow" will be at Distler Performance Hall at 10 a.m. today to receive Eliot-Pearson Award for Excellence in Children's Media. The event is free and open to the public.

2. Mayor to Hold Press Conference this Morning: Mayor Michael McGlynn will hold a press conference at 9 a.m. at Medford High School today to sign off on bonds for school technology upgrades and renovations to Hormel Stadium. He is also expected to talk about the city's franchise agreement with Verizon, and energy grants pertaining to the city.

3. Sunny and Chilly: It is expected to be mostly sunny today and through the weekend, with highs in the mid-to-upper 30s, according to the National Weather Service.

The Archdiocese of Boston has released a plan to consolidate a total of 290 parishes into 125 collaborative parishes. Under the current proposal, St. Joseph Church in Medford Square and St. Francis of Assisi in North Medford would operate under one pastoral staff. Medford's third catholic church, St. Raphael, would remain its own parish.

Resident near Tufts could possibly see some discolored water next Wednesday, Feb. 8. As result of some new pipes being installed in the area, small amounts of iron may be in the water.
