5 Things: Medford Man Had How Much Pot?? Maria Menounos Makes Super Bowl Bet

Good morning. Here are five things to know today:

A Medford man was indicted Tuesday on a charge alleging he received over 600 pounds of marijuana through a drug trafficking organization that smuggled pot over the border from Canada into Western New York, according to a Buffalo News Report. Huy Hoang "Boston" Nguyen, 40, was arrested in the Boston area Jan. 24 on a charge of conspiracy to distribute at least 100 kilograms of marijuana and a charge of conspiracy to import at least 100 kilograms of marjuana, according to a federal court docket. He was indicted by a New York Grand Jury Tuesday. He is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Boston Friday for a hearing.

2. Menounos Makes Super Bet: Medford Native and Patriots fan Maria Menounos has made a bet with her co-host AJ Calloway at ExtraTV: If the Giants win, Menounos will wear a New York Giants Bikini during an upcoming episode; If the Pats win, Calloway wears a Patriots cheerleaders uniform.

3. Partly Sunny: Highs are expected to be around 42 degrees today with partly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. There's a 25 percent chance of light snow tonight.

A Medford man recruited two men with lengthy histories of armed robbery and bank robbery whom he touted as being "from Charlestown" to attempt to rob a Norwood check-cashing store, according to an FBI affidavit. Before his arrest on a conspiracy charge last week John Salvucci of South Medford allegedly told a confidant that his co-conspirators were "real serious guys" who would die before going back to prison, according to an FBI affidavit. But Salvucci didn't know the confidant, whom he recruited to help rob a check-cashing store in Norwood, was cooperating with the FBI and recorded the conversation. "(They will) never go back," Salvucci allegedly said in a recorded conversation. "They'll end up dead before they go back."
