Good morning, here are five things to know today:

A man who drove his car around lowered gates at the High Street rail crossing and was hit by a train was issued a citation by transit police Thursday, according to the MBTA. Arthur Brennan, 69, of North Conway, N.H. was cited for failure to stop for a railroad crossing, MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo said in an email. The offense carries a $50 fine. Brennan suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Weather: Mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 80s are expected today, according to the National Weather Service. There's a 40 percent chance of rain Saturday and 30 percent chance Sunday.

Election 2012: No Medford Donations to Markey's Republican Challengers: Jeff Semon is ahead of fellow Republican Frank Addivinola when it comes to fundraising in the Massachusetts 5th congressional district race, but both have a long way to go before they match the fundraising prowess of 35-year Democratic incumbent Ed Markey. And neither has received a single donation from Medford since April 2011, according to Federal election data.

Middlesex County Man Infected by West Nile Virus: An unidentified man from Middlesex County is this year's first person to be infected by the West Nile Virus in Massachusetts, according to the state's Department of Health and Human Services. The man is in his 60s and lives in a community north of Boston, according to a press release from the Department of Health and Human Services Aug. 15. The man was diagnosed with West Nile Virus in late July, the release said; he remains hospitalized but is recovering.
