Good morning, here are five things to know today:

The Medford City Council approved a $139.6 million operating budget for fiscal year 2013 by a 4-3 vote. City Councilors Paul Camuso, Fred Dello Russo, Rick Caraviello and Robert Maiocco voted in support of the proposed budget, while Breanna Lungo-Koehn, Michael Marks and Robert Penta voted against the budget. The budget, which is both the school and city operating budgets combined, is a $6.3 million increase over 2012.

Medford High Wins Grant for Science Labs Overhaul: Medford schools have won a partial grant to overhaul its science labs, and the improvements will be drastic, according to Superintendent Roy Belson. "This could be the most significant improvement to Medford High School since its construction in 1970," Belson said to the City Council Tuesday. The grant, called the Science Lab Initiative, was awarded to 10 schools in Massachusetts and will fund up to $60 million worth of projects.

Weather: Mostly sunny skies are expected today with highs in the mid 80s, according to the National Weather Service. Similar temperatures are expected tomorrow with a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms.

In 2008, Massachusetts voters approved a ballot measure that reduced possession of an ounce of marijuana from a criminal penalty to a non-criminal fine of $100. Before the change, marijuana possession offenders faced up to 6 months in jail and a $500 fine. Beginning July 8, and going until Dec. 28, buses will replace evening Orange Line trains between Sullivan Square and Oak Grove every Sunday through Thursday, according to the MBTA. On the effected nights, bus replacement service will begin at 9 p.m. and run until the T closes.
