Verizon FiOS TV Service Finally Arrives in Medford
Verizon FiOS is now available to about 70 percent of the city.

The wires were hung over two years ago, but today is the first day Verizon FiOS cable television is available in Medford.
As of today, Verizon cable television services are available to 71 percent of the city, according to a press release from the company.
Verizon was in the process of wiring Medford for its fiber-optic cable service in 2009, when it abruptly stopped expanding service nation-wide. with the company, and they finally signed off on one Feb. 3.

"This is a very unique agreement for Verizon," said Donna Cupelo, regional president of Verizon New England on Feb. 3. "We really had an issue relative to the economy and we took a step back, but because of the partnership we had here, we continued to work together."
The agreement leaves open the possibility that the cable service could eventually be offered to the other 31 percent of the city, but there is no guarantee, McGlynn previously said.

"I don't want anyone to be under the misunderstanding that we can just dictate they have to do that," McGlynn said at a Feb. 3 press conference. "That isn't the way the law works, that's not the way negotiations work."
