Bank of America ATM on High Street Robbed

The ATM was robbed over the weekend, police said.

Local police and the FBI are investigating a robbery of the Bank of America ATM on High Street over the weekend, police said.

The machine was broken into either late Friday night or early Saturday morning, Police Capt. Kevin Faller said. It's unclear at this point how much cash was taken, he said.

"The machine was compromised and they were able to take an undetermined amount of cash," Faller said. "We are now working with the FBI bank robbery task force to investigate."

Medford police responded to the ATM about 7 a.m. Saturday after receiving a call reporting that the ATM appeared to have been robbed, Faller said. Investigators collected evidence shortly after receiving the call.

As of Monday afternoon, a hand-written sign taped to the door of the ATM vestibule at 26 High St. read "ATM OUT OF ORDER."

Police had not yet reviewed video surveillance from the ATM, which they were waiting to receive from Bank of America, Faller said. If police develop a description of the suspect they will release it to the public, he said.
