Somerville

Burger Dive Opens in Assembly Row

Burger Dive, a new restaurant by the same group that owns Papagayo, Sip Wine Bar and other restaurants in the Boston area, opened in Assembly Square over Thanksgiving weekend, according to the restaurant's website.

Restaurant Update: More Details—and Photos—From Soon-to-Open Bronwyn

Bronwyn, a new restaurant by the folks behind Cambridge's T.W. Food, is expected to open in Union Square this winter. (Boston Eater called it one of "Boston's most anticipated restaurant openings.") Tim Wiechmann, the chef and owner, along with his wife, Bronwyn, has been testing recipes, and the dishes and drinks will come from German, Austria, Alto Adige (a.k.a. South Tyrol, in the Italian Alps) and Eastern Europe.

Update: Pinkberry Not Coming to Davis Square

Pinkberry will not be coming to Davis Square, at least not in the near future. According to planning staff with the Zoning Board of Appeals, Pinkberry withdrew its application at a Board meeting in November. It seems the Board was not inclined to grant permission to the frozen yogurt giant, so Pinkberry withdrew its application before it was officially denied.

Charlestown

Tavern on the Water Closes Its Doors

Tavern on the Water in Charlestown has closed for good. Reports of the restaurant—located on Pier 6 in the Charlestown Navy Yard—shutting its doors first surfaced last Wednesday. Another blog post, written on Saturday, Nov. 24 on Adam’s Hospitality & Tourism Industry Blog, confirmed the announcement, and on Monday morning, the company posted an official announcement on the Tavern on the Water website.

Arlington

Gluten/Wheat Free Bakery Coming Soon to East Arlington

A gluten/wheat free bakery is moving into the old Barismo spot in East Arlington. Something Sweet Without Wheat could open at 169 Mass. Ave. as soon as December according to Teresa Fiore, who will manage the shop. The family owned and operated specialty bakery, which was started by two Stoneham sisters just over two years ago, is based out of a commercial kitchen on 6th Road in Woburn. Up until now, the bakery mostly wholesaled its goods to local markets and food stores or sold them by phone or online. The East Arlington location will be the bakery's first retail-only operation.

Barismo, the tiny East Arlington coffee shop known for its high-quality brews, is moving two doors down to a bigger location, according to its blog. The shop’s new spot at 171 Massachusetts Ave. is just a laundromat away from its current digs (169 Massachusetts Ave.) and will be large enough to handle seating, according to the post.

Melrose

Busy Bee Bakery to Appear on Chronicle

Your reader's choice for Melrose's best coffee looks like it has something going for it in the sweets department, too. The Busy Bee Bakery will be featured as part of a segment on sweets during Chronicle on Channel 5. Both the bakery's boca negra—a flourless chocolate cake with white chocolate cream and fresh raspberry sauce—and hand-painted cookies will be featured.
