City Council Expected to Re-Visit Tax Rate Tonight

Here's five things. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011.

Good morning, here are five things to know today:

1. City Council Meets Tonight: The city council tabled a resolution to set the residential tax rate last week, and will revisit the item tonight during its 7 p.m. meeting at city hall. The proposed tax rate would mean the average home owner would see a $155 increase in their tax bill. City councilors Breanna Lungo-Koehn and Robert Penta stalled on passing the rate last week, even though the council already approved the city's budget for next fiscal year over the summer.

2. Sunny Today, Snow Tomorrow?: It's expected to be sunny today with highs around 40 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. There's a 70 percent chance of rain or snow tomorrow, but it's unlikely to stick as highs will be around 50 degrees.

5. Former North Korea Ambassador and Tufts Dean Comments on Kim Jong-Il Death: In this report from the Boston Globe, Stephen Bosworth said he believes the U.S. will be working closely with North Korea as it collects itself after the death of its leader since 1994. “It’s a difficult time in terms of North Korean policy. I think we, [the US], will work with South Korea and China and Japan to make sure this situation is not disruptive to that region,” Bosworth told the Globe.
