MEDFORD, MA – Medford City Councilor Richard “Rick” Caraviello has announced his candidacy for the mayor of Medford.

Caraviello has served on the Medford city council for more than 12 years, with three years as president.

He is a lifelong resident of Medford and has raised his children in the town with his wife of nearly 47 years, Carol. He has been an active member of the community and has been involved in organizations such as Medford Kiwanis, Medford Chamber of Commerce, and the Medford Youth Hockey Association.

One of Caraviello’s proudest accomplishments was bringing a new, state-of-the-art public library to the city of Medford, and his work as co-chair of the foundation that raised $6 million to offset costs to the city.

“I am excited to announce my candidacy for Mayor of Medford,” Caraviello said in a news release. “I have spent my entire life in this community, and I am committed to working hard to make it an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. I will bring a thoughtful, collaborative, and common-sense approach to city government, and I look forward to serving the people of Medford in this expanded role.”
