The City will be holding a community meeting on Wednesday, March 9 at 6 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers and via zoom to provide updates, answer questions and solicit feedback from residents on how to best allocate the roughly $48 million that Medford is receiving from the federal government through the American Rescue Plan (ARPA).

At the meeting, people will hear a presentation from Federal Funds Manager Molly Kivi on specific guidelines on what funds can be spent on, what the administration’s goals are and how the community will be able to help shape the City’s ARPA strategy. The City will also be putting out a survey that will be seeking input from the community about how this money should be spent.

“While the guidance from the federal government on what we can use this money on is strict, we have the ability to make a substantial investment in our infrastructure, public health strategy, green open spaces and more with these funds,” Federal Funds Manager Molly Kivi said. “We are working now to prioritize projects but want to ensure that the community has a voice in the decision-making process.”

“We have the ability to bring real, lasting progress to Medford and address several opportunities to help those in our community and upgrade our City’s systems,” said Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn. “As we previously announced earlier this month, the public has a chance to learn more about our priorities, tentative timelines and offer input and guidance as we craft our strategy at this community meeting. I urge everyone to attend either in person or virtually and fill out the survey when it’s available later in the spring.”
