Fire Department Thanks Residents Who Helped Shovel Out Engine

Hillside residents dug out Engine stuck in snowbank.

The Medford Fire Department has issued a letter of thanks to the residents of Pinkham, Capen and Harris Streets for helping dig out a stuck fire engine on Jan. 12.

During the snowstorm that day, Medford Engine Two got stuck in a snow bank at the intersection of Capen Street and Harris Street while responding to a call on Hamilton Street, according to the letter. Ten to 12 residents helped dig out the engine.

To the residents of Pinkham, Capen and Harris Streets:

The Medford Fire Department would like to thanks the residents of Pinkham, Capen, and Harris Streets for coming to the assistance of Medford's Engine Two during the snowstorm of January 12. Engine Two was responding to a call at 39 Hamilton Street and got stuck in a snow bank at Capen and Harris Street. Ten to 12 citizens began shoveling the snow to free up the truck. There was a lot of snow and it took a long time to complete the task. The worst situations sometimes bring out the best in people. It was very uplifting to see such community spirit.
