FitzPatrick Announces Medford Council Candidacy

Medford Heights resident Bob FitzPatrick is announcing his candidacy for the November Medford City Council election this week.

He'll be holding an announcement on his candidacy at Salvatore's Restaurant at 55 High St. in Medford from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

“I am running as an advocate for clean energy, environmental issues and public investment in infrastructure and education,” FitzPatrick said in an e-mail to Patch. “I believe these are the investments we need to make now to move Medford and the entire state forward into a future that will offer our children and grandchildren economic opportunities and a livable environment.”

FitzPatrick is the former Chief of Staff for state Sen. Pat Jehlen until August of last year when he left to become Government Affairs Director for the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.

He was also an aide for two state representatives and ran a small business in downtown Boston before working for Jehlen.

FitzPatrick said he has worked for political campaigns including those of Gov. Deval Patrick, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and most recently the Senate campaign for Rep. Edward Markey.

FitzPatrick touted his experience working on the Green Line extension and his membership with the Mystic River Watershed Association.

Medford attorney Neil Osborne has also formally announced his candidacy for the council.

2013 is a city election year in Medford. Nomination papers for open offices will be available June 18, with the election to be held Nov. 5.
