‘I Can’t Wait To Do This Again Next Year’: Medford Mayor On Successful Pride Month
Medford's first PRIDE celebration lasted throughout the month of June and included a series of events and programs.
MEDFORD, MA — Medford Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn has released a statement thanking city employees, local businesses, performers, and residents for a successful first PRIDE celebration.
Medford’s PRIDE celebration lasted throughout the month of June and included a series of events and programs that aimed to bring the community together and foster inclusivity, togetherness, and love, Lungo-Koehn said.
The mayor said she is grateful for the “hard work and dedication of the Pride planning committee,” which was chaired by the City’s Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Frances Nwajei, co-chaired by Andrews Middle School student Lucy Rodriguez, and comprised of members Cyan McDermott, Joan Cyr, Michael Lowe, Myrlande Paul, and Paul Donato Jr.

She also thanked those who "worked behind the scenes contributing to the success of the events," including the Medford Police Department, the Medford Department of Public Works, Community Affairs Director Lisa Colaianni, the Communications Department, Armstrong ambulance, Andrews Middle School, and the Medford Recreation Department.
In addition, Lungo-Koehn gave a shoutout to the performers, vendors, and the businesses and organizations who provided space, sponsorship, and/or donated items, including Wegmans, For Pizza, Pinky’s Famous Pizza, Carroll’s, Reimagym, Unitarian Universalist Church of Medford, Grace Episcopal church, William and Charlotte Bloomberg Public Library, Medford Family Network, and Book Wonder.

"None of this would have been possible without your support,” Lungo-Koehn said in a statement. "I am grateful to each and every person who contributed to making PRIDE in Medford such a wonderful, thoughtful and inspiring experience. I can’t wait to do this again next year!"
