Like or Dislike?: MBTA to Increase Video Surveillance
Do you think the T needs more security?

The MBTA is already watching, but it will have more eyes pretty soon.
The T is set to add thousands of video cameras to its transit system using money from a multi-million dollar federal grant, doubling its current stock of surveillance equipment, according to the Boston Globe. The MBTA is eyeing locations to install the cameras, which will include bus garages, stations, trains and buses, according to an AP report published by WBUR.
The transit system has seen slight increases in total reported crimes both years since 2009, when the system had its all-time low crime rate, according to data from the MBTA. Despite the upticks, reported crimes are significantly than they were in the 80s and 90s, according to the data.
