MassDOT To Conduct Overnight Paving On I-93 In Medford

Work will be conducted each week from Sunday night through Thursday night beginning on Sunday, June 5.

MEDFORD, MA — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will be conducting overnight paving operations along Interstate 93 northbound from mile marker 23.0 (Valley Street) in Medford to mile marker 24.8 north of Route 28 in Stoneham.

The work will begin on Sunday, June 5 and will continue weekly from Sunday through Thursday during the overnight hours of 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. The work is scheduled to continue through June 30.

The work, which will require alternating lane closures, is part of a $5.8 million project for resurfacing and related work along a section of I-93 in Medford, Somerville, and Stoneham and a portion of I-495 in Chelmsford. Work on the overall project is expected to be completed in August 2023.

Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.
