MEDFORD, MA — The city announced the launch of a new group called the “Keep Medford Beautiful” chapter, with the goal of keeping up and beautifying the condition of the city’s public spaces.

Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said that the chapter’s next step is to recruit residents to volunteer for the chapter’s steering committee, which will consist of five members. The committee will collaborate with local stakeholders and plan cleanup events.

“The mission of the chapter is to instill accountability through action and foster social responsibility by urging residents to not litter and pick up litter when they see it,” Lungo-Koehn’s office said in a statement. “This will be a volunteer-led organization that works alongside the Department of Public Works, the Mayor's Office, other municipal leaders, and local businesses.”
