MEDFORD, MA — Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn released the details of how the Department of Public Work’s portion of the $3.5 million real estate and property tax override will be utilized.

Local Ballot Question 7 on the Nov. 5 national election asked residents to approve the override, in which $500,000 would fund road and sidewalk repair by a new division of the DPW. The remaining $3 million has gone toward the school district.

$270,192.64 will go toward paying the salary of the new highway repair division. $102,612 is slated to cover insurance costs for the employees and the work that will be conducted. The remaining amount, which totals nearly $130,000, will go toward all equipment and repair expenses.
