Medford Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn Running For Re-Election In 2023

Lungo-Koehn became the 32nd mayor of Medford in 2020 and was re-elected to a second term in 2021.

MEDFORD, MA – Mayor of Medford Breanna Lungo-Koehn is running for re-election in 2023, she announced on Thursday.

“I am proud to call the City of Medford my home and it has been an honor to serve my community over the last four years,” Lungo-Koehn said in a news release. “While we have secured some major wins for our City, we know that this is a critical time for our City and our Commonwealth. That is why I am announcing my run for re-election.”

Breanna Lungo-Koehn is a lifelong Medford resident and became the 32nd mayor of Medford in 2020. She was re-elected to a second term on November 2, 2021 and was sworn into office on January 2, 2022.

Prior to being elected Mayor, she served 18 years as a Medford City Councilor – having been first elected when she was only 21 years old. Lungo-Koehn graduated from Medford High School and received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and psychology from Endicott College in Beverly.

She went on to earn a juris doctor degree from the Massachusetts School of Law in 2006, and opened her own legal practice in Medford in 2009 after working for a Boston law firm.

As mayor, Lungo-Koehn has developed Medford’s first comprehensive multi-year capital improvement plan and launched a community-driven comprehensive plan process to create a 30 year vision for the future of Medford.

Other projects include revitalizing Medford Square, planting more than 200 trees to beautify the town and reduce the effects of climate change, and expanding affordable housing, among others.
