Collection Scam: People Showing Up On The Doorstep of Medford Residents
Multiple residents have reportedly been scammed out of thousands of dollars.
MEDFORD, MA — The police department is warning against an in-person solicitor scam that has reportedly cost victims large amounts of money.
According to reports, couriers are pretending to be from some form of collection agency that is convincing people that they owe money. Instances have resulted in residents withdrawing money from the bank and purchasing gift cards to transfer funds to. The department believes that elderly residents are being specifically targeted and are the most at risk. It emphasized that no legitimate company or entity would knock on people's doors to collect money.
