Medford Readies for City's 385th Birthday Bash

A parade featuring 19 different bands will march through the streets of Medford in honor of the city's 385th birthday on Sunday, Sept. 27.

The City of Medford will celebrate its 385th birthday on Sunday, Sept. 27. The festivities will begin with a massive parade, which will start at 2 p.m.

The parade will start at Medford High School, 489 Winthrop Street, and proceed down Winthrop Street, onto High Street, onto Riverside Avenue, before concluding at Medford City Hall.

Members of the Medford Clergy Association will lead the parade as grand marshals. The event will feature five divisions and 19 bands.

Those marching in the parade include, Medord High School’s band and cheerleaders, the Mass Maritime band, The Bangledesh Association of New England, Captain America, Wonder Woman and Spiderman, boy scouts and girl scouts, the Tibetan Association of Boston, Tufts University, public safety vehicles, Uncle Sam on stilts, Minutemen groups and many more.

The Aleppo Temple Shriners will make up an entire division with their own bands, marching units, clowns and floats.

Mayor Michael J. McGlynn will be among many city officials in attendance
