Medford Resident Making Second Run At City Council
Patrick Clerkin is looking to connect with voters before the election.

MEDFORD, MA — Resident Patrick Clerkin is running for City Council in the 2025 city election later this year.
The North Reading native first moved to Medford in 2016, and describes his political philosophy as being a centrist.
“Inside my head seated at a round table there's a progressive, conservative and libertarian negotiating values and goals with each other,” Clerkin said. “One prioritizes diversity, one orderliness and one efficiency.”

Clerkin first ran in 2023, after entering the race relatively late. He is making his second run at a seat with the hope of winning voters over. He named municipal budget balancing, ensuring street repair and construction, and strengthening the communication between elected officials and constituents as some of his top priorities if elected.
“I learned about the positives of Medford -- its proud heritage, varied landscape and plentiful resources -- alongside what information distribution failures, polarization into different groups and individual radicalization from algorithms has contributed to our shared dilemma,” Clerkin said in a statement. “In the intervening two years the trenches are dug deeper but the no-man's-land between is less inhospitable alongside emerging glimmers of hope.”
