Medford’s COVID-19 Positivity Rate Lowers To 8.65%, Cases Decrease

MEDFORD, MA — Medford's positive COVID-19 test rate is now at 8.65 percent, a 0.16 percent decrease since last week, according to the latest municipal-level data released by the Department of Public Health Thursday.

This week, the City of Medford reported a two-week case count of 437 compared to last week's case count of 522. Also over the past week, Medford was adding 51.4 new cases per day per 100,000 people. That's lower than the 61.4 cases per 100,000 in Medford measured on May 26.

On Thursday afternoon, the state Department of Public Health reported 2,561 new coronavirus cases and 24 deaths. The weekly average case count was 1,450.3 daily cases, down from 2,246 a week before.

The latest state vaccine report showed the number of fully vaccinated residents is 5.39 million. Over 78 percent are fully vaccinated in Medford, and 89 percent are partially vaccinated.

The state releases town-by-town testing data every Thursday, including the number of people tested, the testing rate, the positive test rate, cases and infection rates.
